My mom mentioned over on her blog that i've been a busy little bee on my sewing machine, and boy have I. I bought a book in a quilt shop in Brigham City when we went for our family reunion that has patterns for wall hangings. You make one background and then as many different middle panels that you want. These middle panels simply snap on to the background made and can be switched for different seasons/events going on. I was a little worried because i don't have a large stash of scrap fabric and the example in the book looked very scrappy with no two pieces of fabric alike. I came up with the idea of buying charm packs, that way i could get a little scrap of each piece of fabric in the entire fabric line. I ended up buying three, two matched better than the third, which is okay because i think it helped make it a little scrappier. Anywho, i'm pretty proud of my three day work of art! see what you think.
So the big white spot in the middle is where all the backgrounds i make will snap on. I'm so excited to get it done and hanging in my house!
I also finished another little wall hanging in between spring and summer terms, i'm really glad with how it turned out. Now all i need is the courage to actually quilt things!
We've been in our new house for about a month now, and we absolutely love it! I feel like i have so much room to store things. Everything finally has a place and my house can look clean.... if i take the time to clean it. It's so nice to have a backyard for our dogs to run around in, and i even got my own sewing room!
The day moving day came we weren't quite ready to go, we had boxes piled up everywhere in our small little condo, and still tons to pack.
Some pictures of all the boxes and junk piled around waiting to be taken down.
The moving guys showed up right on time, and came with a big ol truck to put all our junk in.
About 30 minutes into hauling all our junk down the stairs, we were told that one of the guys was having some bad chest pains, so he was taking a little break. The next thing ya know.. these guys are driving in with their sirens a blasting.
The kid was only 16, so they figured better safe than sorry, and took him to the hospital. Now we were down to two movers and things slowed down quite a bit. It took us all morning to get things loaded into the truck, and finally we were off to the new house!
Imagine my happiness when we had everything unloaded and this is what it looked like.
All those boxes fit into one small room, yahoo! i knew i was off to a good start!
Here are some more pictures.... i'll have to take some more later, the house isn't picture clean right now, so this is what you get!
